“Edwards was a contemporary post war artist and figure in the early California pottery movement. He was among the first group of students who studied ceramics under Peter Voulkos at Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles. He also studied under Marguerite Wildenhain and Soji Hamada.
Edward’s surface techniques include sgraffito, brush work and, on monumental works, stylized abstract sprigs or mat appliqué. These techniques were inspired by Japanese Sumi and Abstract Expressionist painters.”
