Description
SHELF SITTERAsian Girl with Umbrella
This item is unmarked but it's
very likely California pottery dating from the
1940's to 1950's when such figurines
were popular. McCarty Brothers and
Weil are two such manufacturers. This piece has a facial resemblance to Weil
but I haven't seen this particular figurine before.
The figurine is hand-painted and has the
typical, age-related glaze crazing
that's common to
70 year old pieces of California pottery. Otherwise, there
are
no chips or cracks, and
no stains in, or under, the glaze. There are
3 small marks on the back where
the piece was supported during firing
in the kiln. This is normal.
Approximately 6" wide, 7" tall and 3.5" in depth.
