    Description

This pretty and petite set of Santo Domingo Pueblo or Navajo jaclas dates to mid-twentieth century, approximately 1940s-50s. They were handmade in a very fine scale (small diameter), with a lovely range of tones and sheen to the turquoise. The set is on its original twine stringing, with unusual red balls
at the bottom of each jacla. I think these old red beads are glass; below the surface the color is white/offwhite color (see detail photo). Dimensions: approx. 3 ½” max. length, weight 4 grams total.
These are old and delicate. On a few beads there seems to be some encrusted crud that I haven’t tried to fool with (see detail photo). In addition, some beads show wear, such as dings/flakes.
What a sweet set to make into earrings, or tie onto a turquoise bead necklace!
